We have been so blessed by the loving people and generous companies that have come alongside us to support our vision and our work revitalizing the Kwak’wala language and culture.
Through language and cultural programming, Nawalakw is committed to being a place of hope, healing, and strengthening the identity of our people through a connection to our ancestors, culture, and this sacred place. We know the land, air, and sea heals and sustains us and Nawalakw’s mission will continue this for our children and youth, and our children yet unborn.
Today, we recognize our friends at Arc’teryx, with a giant Gilakas’la for your amazing and generous gift.
Arc’teryx is a high-performance outdoor equipment company known for leading innovations in climbing, skiing, and alpine technologies. They’re also known for their commitment to sustainability and partnering with grassroots organizations who share a passion for the transformative power of being in nature.
Waterproof shells, breathable base layers, and cozy mid-layers are important to keeping our language apprentices and camp staff warm, dry, and comfortable in all weather scenarios. And perhaps nobody understands this quite like our friends at Arc’teryx!
Arc’teryx has generously outfitted our camp operations team with adventure gear suitable for the ever-evolving weather conditions on BC’s beautiful central coast.
“We have committed $1 million in 2021 to support our partners in their work to open the door to nature and protect it. The Outer Peace Grant Program is designed to support applicants in local, grassroots organizations. Human-centred partners that are working to remove barriers and protect nature, addressing needs in their community. Who listen deeply. Who act altruistically in support of others.” – Arc’teryx
Thank you for your commitment to nature and to Nawalakw!
