At Nawalakw, we celebrate the seasons of growth on this beautiful journey together. We continue to build our fluency through bak̕wa̱mk̓ala programs and we are proud of our language team who have been on their journey together through the University of Victoria’s Language Proficiency Certificate that will lead to a bachelor’s degree.
Our youth employment program through spring and summer provided valuable experience to our young people who worked in various roles throughout our territory thanks to the generosity of folks who continue to support our youth employment program.
We continue to build our internal capacity and increase our number of full-time staff, including a new cohort of language apprentices who will join our team and work towards kwak̓wala fluency and connect with speakers regularly. We are grateful to our first cohorts who were with us from the beginning, we could not have built the program without them and their dedication to language and culture.
